Woman Explains Why She Left The Mormon Church To Become A Sex Worker Creating ‘Silly’ OnlyFans Content

Kit Barrus made the decision to leave the Mormon church during her teenage years

A model who stepped away from her life inside the Mormon church to build a career on OnlyFans has opened up about what led to that major shift and why she felt it was the right move for her.

As a child, Kit Barrus spent close to 20 hours each week attending church activities. Religion shaped her daily routine and strongly influenced her identity, but over time she began to question whether those beliefs truly matched how she felt inside.

During her teenage years, she took part in common Mormon practices, including baptisms for the dead. At 15, she also attended Girls Camp, which is a typical experience for young girls growing up in the church.

At the same time, her relationship with her parents began to fall apart. When she was 14, she watched pornography for the first time, and at 15 she lost her virginity, which created serious tension at home.

“When my parents found out about this, everything blew up,” Kit told Metro. “They pulled me out of school and sent me to Idaho to live with my grandparents, after about six months of house arrest. I was miserable.”

After she left home for college, she later returned, but things did not improve. Her father found a single edible and a vibrator in her room, and she was asked to leave the house again.

She eventually rented a room and found steady work at a law firm, working a standard nine-to-five schedule. Her path changed when a friend suggested she consider starting an OnlyFans account as a way to earn extra money.

After dealing with financial stress and feeling unsure about entering the adult content world, Kit launched her account in 2022. In her first month alone, she earned $10,000.

That early success made the decision clear for her, and the income from her side hustle began helping her pay for her math PhD.

She describes her work as “silly but fun,” often creating playful and imaginative content, such as dressing up as a dragon and filming a scene with a female knight.

“I don’t make any extreme content or engage in sex challenges, and I actually credit my Mormon upbringing for that,” Kit explained. “This industry can really push your boundaries.”

“A lot of people fall into the trap of doing more and more extreme things because it sells well, but growing up Mormon and having everybody tell me what my values should be, then inherently disagreeing with that, has made me very independent when examining what I want to do.”

Kit says she frequently receives requests from men asking her to produce more explicit or NSFW material, but she refuses to cross into areas that do not align with her boundaries, no matter how much money is offered.

“You’re like, ‘I could make £100,000 [$140,000] if I just do this one thing’, but that’s when you sell a part of yourself,” she added

“I have strength in my convictions after my childhood, I’ve been inoculated.”

Even though she went through years of tension and serious disagreements with her parents, Kit now says she is “quite close” to both her mother and father these days, showing that their relationship has slowly healed over time.
